"Earned It"- The Weeknd
You make it look like it’s magic
'Cause I see nobody, nobody but you, you, you
I'm never confused
Hey, hey
I'm so used to being used
So I love when you call unexpected
'Cause I hate when the moment's expected
So I'ma care for you, you, you
I'ma care for you, you, you, you, yeah
'Cause, girl, you're perfect
You're always worth it
And you deserve it
The way you work it
'Cause, girl, you earned it
Girl, you earned it, yeah
You know our love would be tragic (oh, yeah)
So you don't pay it, don't pay it no mind, mind, mind
We live with no lies
Hey, hey
You're my favorite kind of night
So I love when you call unexpected
'Cause I hate when the moment's expected
So I'ma care for you, you, you
I'ma care for you, you, you, you, yeah
'Cause, girl, you're perfect
You're always worth it
And you deserve it
The way you work it
'Cause, girl, you earned it
Girl, you earned it, yeah
On that lonely night
We said it wouldn't be love
But we felt the rush
It made us believe it was only us (only us)
Convinced we were broken inside, inside
'Cause, girl, you're perfect
You're always worth it
And you deserve it
The way you work it
'Cause, girl, you earned it
Girl, you earned it, yeah

Analysis-
Many people feel as though they have fallen in love at a young age, but eventually realize they are not sure what true love between two people really means. The majority of young relationships end with heartbreak and brokenness. As we get older and mature, we learn what real love is and when we find it, we don’t want to let go of it. It is uncertain as to whom we will fall in love with, but it is bound to happen. As said in “Earned It”, “I’m so used to being used”, (line 5) suggests that he has been mistreated and has learned over time that he is normally just being used for something in the relationship. He then finds someone who he thinks deserves his love and wants to care for her. He believes she is perfect as said in line 10, “Cause, girl, you’re perfect”, and respects her and wants to give her the world. Their relationship is honest, as mentioned in line 18, “We live with no lies” and he has finally found the perfect girl to give his love to. Lines 32-34 says, “We said it wouldn’t be love, But we felt the rush, It made us believe it was only us” and this saying that love overpowered them and they found true love, with each other.
"Then"- Brad Paisley
I remember trying not to stare
The night that I first met you
You had me mesmerized
And three weeks later
In the front porch light
Taking 45 minutes to kiss goodnight
I hadn't told you yet
I thought I loved you then
Now you're my whole life
Now you're my whole world
I just can't believe
The way I feel about you girl
Like a river meets the sea
Stronger than its ever been
We've come so far since that day
And I thought I loved you then
I remember taking you back
To right where I first met you
You were so surprised
There were people around
But I didn't care
I got down on one knee right there
And once again
I thought I loved you then
Now you're my whole life
Now you're my whole world
I just can't believe
The way I feel about you girl
Like a river meets the sea
Stronger than its ever been
We've come so far since that day
And I thought I loved you then
I can just see you
With a baby on the way
I can just see you
When your hair is turning grey
What I can't see
Is how I'm ever gonna love you more
But I've said that before
Now you're my whole life
Now you're my whole world
I just can't believe
The way I feel about you girl
We'll look back someday
At this moment that we're in
And I'll look at you and say
And I thought I loved you then
And I thought I loved you then

Analysis-
Love between two people is very special and can grow and develop every day. When you are in a relationship and you love someone, that love can grow bigger and bigger until you can’t explain in words how much you love that person. Loving someone also means seeing a future with that person and being excited to see what will come out of it. In the song “Then” by Brad Paisley, he is talking about his love growing for his wife. He goes back to the night they first met and says, “You had me mesmerized” (verse 3) and tells the story of the beginning of their relationship. He then talks about when he asked her to marry him and taking her back to the place they met. He repeats the verse “I thought I loved you then” many times throughout the song to make the point that in the past, he thought his love for her was as great as it could ever get. However, now he sees that his love has grown and he loves her even more than he did before. In verses 33-36, he foreshadows to the future and says, “I can just see you With a baby on the way I can just see you When your hair is turning grey”. His point of this verse is to make the point that their love is forever and he is excited for their future to come. Verses 37-39 say, “What I can’t see Is how I’m ever gonna love you more But I’ve said that before”. He is stating that he doesn’t know how he will ever love her more than he does now, but he says that he has said that before which refers back to the line “I thought I loved you then”. This song is representing the fact that your love for someone will always grow more than you ever thought it would and it will last forever.
